12.1-Men have died to give us something we won't even use.
12.1-
From now till Christmas I am putting up my favorite verses as a Christmas gift to you my friends.
I wouldn’t be surprised if you think I’m silly or losing it. Both may be true. But it is not foolish to read a verse of Scripture per day. Of that I am sure.
Scripture was delivered to us English only readers at great price.
William Tyndale lived in a day when there was death sentence for anyone in England having possession of Scripture in English.
He went forward to translate from Hebrew and Greek to English.
He was the first to take advantage of the printing press.
The authorities didn’t like him doing this. He opposed Henry the VIII and his divorce from Katherine and this wasn’t popular. He was arrested and jailed and accused of heresy and executed by strangling. He prayed as he died the king of England’s eyes would be opened.
His body was burned at the stake.
Two years later the king authorized the Great Bible to be produced in English.
The more familiar KJV, 1611, King James Version was taken from the great Bible. NT 83% Tyndales and the OT 76% Tyndale.
Before this great sacrifice of lives it was only the Clergy and the Rich Educated that could read the word of God for themselves.
Now all of us who are literate and live in America have many Bibles and never read it.
How sad?

Romans 8.
39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Psalm 126
1 When the Lord restored the fortunes of[a] Zion,
we were like those who dreamed.[b]
2 Our mouths were filled with laughter,
our tongues with songs of joy.
Then it was said among the nations,
“The Lord has done great things for them.”
3 The Lord has done great things for us,
and we are filled with joy.
we were like those who dreamed.[b]
2 Our mouths were filled with laughter,
our tongues with songs of joy.
Then it was said among the nations,
“The Lord has done great things for them.”
3 The Lord has done great things for us,
and we are filled with joy.
4 Restore our fortunes,[c] Lord,
like streams in the Negev.
5 Those who sow with tears
will reap with songs of joy.
6 Those who go out weeping,
carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy,
carrying sheaves with them.
like streams in the Negev.
5 Those who sow with tears
will reap with songs of joy.
6 Those who go out weeping,
carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy,
carrying sheaves with them.
