1.6-An easier way than what we are trying

1.6- “The terrible thing, the almost impossible thing, is to hand over your whole self--all your wishes and precautions--to Christ. But it is far easier than what we are all trying to do instead.” C.S. Lewis Matthew 4. 18  Now as Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19  And He *said to them, “ [ h ] Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20  Immediately they left their nets and followed Him. 21  Going on from there He saw two other brothers, [ i ] James the son of Zebedee, and [ j ] John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them. 22  Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed him.

1.5-Get your head out the focus on others problems!

1.5- It happened this morning at about 6am.   I read this: When you get what you want in your struggle for self, And the world makes you King for a day, Then go to the mirror and look at yourself, And see what that guy has to say. For it isn't your Father, or Mother, or Wife, Who judgement upon you must pass. The feller whose verdict counts most in your life Is the guy staring back from the glass. He's the feller to please, never mind all the rest, For he's with you clear up to the end, And you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test If the guy in the glass is your friend. You may be like Jack Horner and "chisel" a plum, And think you're a wonderful guy, But the man in the glass says you're only a bum If you can't look him straight in the eye. You can fool the whole world down the pathway of years, And get pats on the back as you pass, But your final reward will be heartaches and tears ...

1.5-God understands what its like to be tempted to sin.

1.5- Jesus walked on this earth and therefore was tempted in all the same ways that we are.   We can see how we will be tempted and know that when we pray to our Father through Jesus our brother that Jesus understands and our Father understands. Matthew 4. 4  Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2  And after He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He [ a ] then became hungry. 3  And the tempter came and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” 4  But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘ Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God .’” 5  Then the devil *took Him into the holy city and had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, 6  and *said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down; for it is written, ‘ He will command His angels concerning You ’; and ‘ On their hands they ...
