8.10-Who to move toward and who to move from.

8.10- Move to places of affirmation and love from God.   God is love.   He is full of grace and truth. His love is unconditional because that is His core character.   Choose friends who refresh your soul.   Go to places that honor God and the dignity of all humans.    Leave places that don’t. Mark 9. 9  And he said to them, “Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see that the kingdom of God has come with power.” The Transfiguration 2  After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them. 3  His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. 4  And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus. 5  Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and ...

8.9-Thoughts about the mass shooting that has killed 20 people so far in El Paso, Texas.

8.9- Thoughts about the mass shooting that has killed 20 people so far in El Paso, Texas. Sin paralyzes us. Jesus forgave a man before He restored his movement. He gives this line in the Lord’s prayer, “Father forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.” He knows that all of us would need forgiveness and need to extend it to others. The family of the people who were killed in the Charlotte church shooting said that without forgiving their killer they could not move forward with their own walk with God. Jesus told the story about a man who owed millions of dollars and was forgiven this gigantic debt. Then he left this meeting and went out to choke a guy who owed him a few dollars and demanded payment. The man who had forgiven the million dollars said this man must be now be thrown back in jail until he payed back all he owed. According to Jesus here is the punch line of this story. “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless y...

8.8--“We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves.”

8.8--“We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves.” I had no idea what would happen when I walked up to a guy at a fast food restaurant six years ago and held out my hand and introduced myself.   He said a group of Jesus followers met here and he was also there for the first time. Fast forward to six years.   Today h Edit ere is what happened. 1.        Laughter about a network television show that some consider shallow and worldly and a couple of the guys had watched and found Jesus name and His teachings had been a part of a the program. 2.        Reminders to be patient with people going through times of weakness.  “ We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. ” 3.        Heard these emotional words, “Good news about mom, she has cancer, but it has not spread to lymph...

8-.7 Be careful about spoiling children.

8.7- Be careful about spoiling children. Proverbs 29. 19  Servants cannot be corrected by mere words;      though they understand, they will not respond. 20  Do you see someone who speaks in haste?      There is more hope for a fool than for them. 21  A servant pampered from youth      will turn out to be insolent.

8.6-The Earth is the Lord's

8.6- God is in control. I am not. Why are young and innocent children killed and old violent oppressive men keep living. Why? I don’t know. Psalm 24. Psalm 24 Of David. A psalm. 1  The earth is the Lord ’s, and everything in it,      the world, and all who live in it; 2  for he founded it on the seas      and established it on the waters. 3  Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord ?      Who may stand in his holy place? 4  The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,      who does not trust in an idol      or swear by a false god.
