 12.4-

Rejection.  When you decide to bring darkness to light there is an acceptance that things will not always be easy.  Difficulties and trials are a part of work for the liberation from oppression of people locked in bondage to idolatry.  Jesus came into a world which included slavery and the discounting of groups by other groups.  Many groups hated each other. Jews hated Gentiles and vice versa.  An early Jewish prayer was given by a man who thanked God that he wasn't created as a woman or a Gentile.

Wars and sickness and disease were a plague then and now.  Poor hungry people were constantly surrounding Jesus and compassion was the order of every day.  This impact caused the people in charge of the local power structure to be afraid someone was going to take away their place of power and position.

He was rejected.  The very cornerstone of all humanity.  God's Son who was born in Bethlehem and laid in a manger grew in wisdom and stature and favor with God and men had learned how to live by the things that He had suffered in this world.

He learned to keep a deep intimacy with His Father in Heaven.  He would cry out to Him with great needs for help and relief.

A cornerstone is meant to align and building in a firm and beautiful way and build a secure house on a firm foundation, but the world of darkness and idolatry doesn't want this.  They reject Jesus because He is full of grace and truth.

When we feel rejected it is important that we not assume we are doing something wrong.  We may be rejected because we are not being truthful or unloving, but we can also be rejected because we are sticking with Jesus regardless of what the society around us does.

One of the first gifts Jesus gave to me when I became a Christian was the freedom to stand up for Jesus and His beliefs regardless of what the surrounding people believed.  This has helped me greatly to follow Jesus and not be limited by anyone or anything if Jesus is leading me.
