What is love?



Matthew 22.
34 But when the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered themselves together. 35 One of them, [n]a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the great and [o]foremost commandment. 39 The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”


1.       We know that all the commands of God hang on a couple.  Love God 100% and love your neighbor as yourself.  God is love.  Those who love God must love their brothers and sisters. It is to avoid fornication and adultery.  But it is also hospitality to strangers.  It is a visit to a prisoner and treating them with dignity and mutuality.  Stand up for the poor who don’t have the resources to pay for a lobbyist.  It is honor your marriage vows.  It is to sit with a widow on the night her husband dies.  It is to be free from the love of money.  It is being content with what you have but not who you are.  It is knowing that God in His love will never forsake us nor desert us.  He is our helper.  Therefore, what can any man do to us.  It is to be secure in His love.  Love imitates the faith of those who taught them the gospel.  Love knows that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.  It is to love God and love people and not to be distracted by the addiction to things.  It is to be willing to go outside the camp with Him.   Our heavenly life is filled with praise of God and doing good and sharing with others.  Heavenly life is one where we realize that this life does not last.  Love of one’s neighbor includes being a good follower.  Heaven love is to be honorable in all we do especially that which pleases God. It is to choose to be a vessel of honor every day.  This heavenly life is not quarrelsome, but kind and gentle.  There is a promise of eternal life to those who love God.

9.4- Broken eggs. I had been warned Don't try to carry too much in from the grocery store at once. Learn the hard way or the easy way. Why does the only thing that falls off is the most fragile?  9.2- There was this grasshopper who appeared to be very old and very wounded. He drug himself along. Where he was amazed me. On the ground level at the gas station near Gordon Texas was dirt and oil and the danger of feet and tires. As I pumped 39.30 worth of fuel I wondered how did he get out of the dirt and danger to the safety of the top of the gas pump? As I get older I sometimes feel I am dragging along like a grasshopper. My spirit is fueled by seeing how my life includes my maker providing safety for me by the help of family, friends and strangers. Two such are my nephew, Lynn And Sheri Luttrell. He is a prof. at ACU and she the owner and leader of stepping Stones school. Got to spent two days of fun, 42 and homemade ice cream last week.  9.3- I have been given a bed to go to sleep in where a window is high and laying on my back I can see the moon at times. Flat of my back I can choose to think of the maker of the moon. A space craft from India landed there yesterday near the south pole of the moon where they think there may be water. Once the greatest human who ever lived faced his hardest days. He spoke words of steady trust and submission to his loving heavenly Father, maker of heaven and earth. "If possible may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."
