Refreshing Our Spirits With Scripture

 1.29- "Nothing is so bad that something good cannot come from it." Rose Girone, 112 year oldest survivor of the holocaust. Romans 12. 14  Bless those who persecute  [ q ] you; bless and do not curse.   15  Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.   16  Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be  [ r ] haughty in mind, but  [ s ] associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation.   17  Never repay evil for evil to anyone.  [ t ] Respect what is right in the sight of all people.   18  If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all people.   19  Never take your own revenge, beloved, but  [ u ] leave room for the wrath  of God , for it is written: “ Vengeance is Mine , I  will repay ,” says the Lord.   20  “ But if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head .”   21  Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

 1.28- Beautiful things done for those you love are not wasted resourses. Flowers. Perfume. Favorite coffee. Birthday lunch. Four color pens. Journal books. Given with love and awareness that time is like a morning mist and the clock is spinning. Give them. Use them. Don't judge and criticize others. It's a beautiful thing. Matthew 26. 6  Now when Jesus was in Bethany, at the home of Simon  [ a ] the Leper,   7  a woman came to Him with an alabaster vial of very expensive perfume, and she poured it on His head as He was reclining  at the table .   8  But the disciples were indignant when they saw  this , and said, “Why this waste?   9  For this  perfume  could have been sold for a high price and  the money  given to the poor.”   10  But Jesus, aware of this, said to them,  “Why are you bothering the woman? For she has done a good deed for Me.   11  For you always have the poor with you; but you do not always have Me.   12  For when she poured this perfume on My body, she did it

 1.27- Everything I learned about cleaning up a messy life I learned in the kitchen. If you are single and learning how to live a good life after making a mess somewhere here is what I have found. 1. Don't be too hard on yourself. 2. Don't be too easy on yourself. 3. Slow down. 4. Be alert. 5. Notice the texture of what you touch. 6. Hold loosely some things and tightly other things. 7. Be honest with yourself about who caused the mess and how it happened. 8. For your part, try to quit doing that. 9. Clean up what you can as soon as you can and as thoroughly as you can. 10. Turn the rest of it over to our "kind, heavenly Father." And other professional cleaners which we all need from time to time. 11. Don't be afraid. Live with joy and take reasonable risk. God is love.  1.26- Resistance. Rebellion. Good advice from Doctors, PT. People. Trainers. Many of us say, "Yes." but with our practice and habits we answer "No." Why? Humans are willing with their minds to sign up for things and yet often the follow through with diligence is not there. Planet Fitness ads next to Weight Watchers advertisements next to Dunkin Donut ads. During Rangers games. Learn about Jesus' lifestyle. Practice Jesus' lifestyle. Without a fresh dose of grace, mercy and peace from God I would not be able to get up and move forward today. Matthew 7. 24  “Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine, and  [ t ] acts on them, will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.   25  And the rain fell and the  [ u ] floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and  yet  it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.   26  And everyone who hears these words of Mine, and does not  [ v ] act on them, will be like a foolish

 1.25- After Pearl Harbor our country was never the same. After 911 our country was never the same. After COVID our country was never the same. There are trips we have to make that we have never made. You think about the clothing needed. A child in another state is very ill and I must go. I will choose clothing for life. As a person who believes we are "one nation under God" I will travel to New places by praying to God and not worry and not give up. I will do my job to help people in my family and friendship circle and walk by faith with my mustard seed size pipeline of faith in God who gives me strength. With the prayers and financial help of my crew I made the first trip into Siberia Russia, 14 time zones away. I went with 54 Americans to teach them and learn from them. I wanted to kiss the door of the Delta jet after 16 days. Later I made 12 more such trips. My life was never the same. I learned. If God takes you to it, he will get you through it. Make good preparation.
