Lessons from a blood draw.

Image
My good friends from Denver, Dr. John Rich and his lovely wife, Jo.  John was a gentle healer.  John was the Chief of Plastic Surgeon for the Army prior to his retirement.  Jo passed in 2003 and is still missed by her family and friends. Day of Year: 81 Date:3.22.14 Favorite Verse: Matthew 21. 5  “Say to Daughter Zion,      ‘See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey,      and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’” [ a ] Thought for the day: I had blood drawn recently. The man who did it was the best I've ever had.  I could hardly feel it.  As he was putting on the cotton swab, I asked him, "When are we getting started?"  He laughed. He knew he had been gentle and had done a good job. Gentle and king. They don't seem to go together, but in Jesus they do. At Jesus' birth, He was announced as king of the Jews. He was not a dictator, power welding king, but a servant king. He came to those who were lame, blind, broken

What do you want?

Denver wanted to win a third Super Bowl trophy this year.  I suspect I know what they want next year. Day of Year: 80 Date:3.21.14 Favorite Verse: Matthew 20.32 32  Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked. Thought for the day:  Prayer is simply talking to God the Father and Jesus Christ our friend.  We can be genuine when we are grateful for our blessings and ask for what we really want.  Success comes when we communicate with Jesus and get right to the point.  As we grow spiritually in prayer, God will give us maturity.  The things we want will change.  It is critical to be real. How does Jesus say we can become great?

Day of Year: 79 Date:3.20.14 Favorite Verse: Matthew 20. 26  Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, Thought for the day: How do you change a depressing day into a good day? Find a practical act of service to do for your family, neighbors or a clerk in a store. Jesus Reading (Ten Minutes): Matthew 20.29-34 + Rest of New Testament: 5.1-11 +Psalm of the Day: Psalm 58. +Proverb of the Day: Proverbs 12.5,6 +Rest of Old Testament: Deuteronomy 10,11

Joy in the Cemetery

Day of Year: 78 Date: 3.19.14 Favorite Verse:  Matthew 20.19 19  and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!” Thought for the day: Hope is what Jesus Christ had in His heart even as He faced a cruel death at age 33.  Jesus believed there was life beyond death.  This is the core belief of followers of Jesus.  This life is not all there is.  This is an education and training ground for eternal life. Disciples of Jesus have joy in the cemetery and hope for a future reunion.
