Is following Jesus radical?

Day of Year: 116

Favorite Verse: Matthew 28.18-20 (NIV)
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Thought for the day:
God's Son is Jesus.  He has been given all authority to command His followers what His mission statement is.  It really doesn't matter what a congregation puts down as its mission statement.  If it is not aligned with this mission statement. it will not be as fruitful as it could be.

I believe that this may sound radical, but it should be normal.  Our work as followers of Jesus is not to go out and make members of any political party, but to make disciples of Jesus.  This is a picture of the welcome-home group at the Denver airport as we returned home from Russia in 1993 or 1994.  When the iron curtain opened to outside teaching, many churches sent in short term teachers to this nation which had been closed off for nearly seventy years.  I was never the same after this trip.  I suspect the students were changed, but I know the teachers were changed. The good news of Jesus is the most important news that anyone could hear.
