11.21--Talk and walk. Creed and deed. Social media and real world.
Social media friends,
My wife doesn’t care too much what I write because she is with me all the time. I don’t mean she isn’t supportive because she is, but you get my drift.
She hears and sees my life and my writings, words in public don’t mean much compared to that.
The same with my kids, grandkids, sibs and friends. How do you behave? What do you do to help and support people? This is real life and not some public spoken or written life. It is common for our talk to be very different from our walk. It is common for a better picture of our life to be presented on social media than our real life.

We are taught by wise parents to watch people’s behavior more than
their talk or their writings. I was taught to be observant regarding my
teachers at school and my coaches. From grades 1 to 12 in Ladonia and
Fannindel Schools a very high percentage of my teachers and coaches
lived among us as normal, carefully watched people and their public
persona was also their private life as lived in the community.
That didn’t mean there were failures for there are in all our lives. I am thankful for these teachers and their memory in my life.
My time with Mr. Milton and Patsy was more of them being who they are as they have been for years. When I see the public failure of some media people I am reminded that they were not really who they pretended to be.
I have a relationship with my wife and children and grandchildren this Thanksgiving because they are real with me about my walk needs to match my talk and writing. I am thankful for their grace in this matter.
Matthew 7.
15 “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 You will [k]know them by their fruits. [l]Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they? 17 So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 So then, you will [m]know them by their fruits.
