We went to Houston to be with the family of my beloved friend, Denis Crawford, who passed last weekend. Dennis was a great lover of people and a special blessing to Sheila and me. Dennis went to ministry school with us and for many years was a great spokesman for God. His daughter, Denise Rosier, made the comment at the family memorial service that her dad cared for "strays". Indeed Jesus taught him to love the homeless and the troubled. He and his wife Anna took them into their home many times. Their family was used by Jesus to make a positive difference. Our prayer is for the comfort of God to Anna, the children and grandchildren. He will be missed. This picture is of Anna, Denise Rosier, Claudia and Dusty Crawford with Sheila and me. We were honored to be with them and sorry that Dennis' daughter, Andrea and her husband Michael and their children could not be present for this lunch. There is...

5.18.14 Day 138 Favorite Verse: Mark 6. 55 and ran about that whole country and began to carry here and there on their pallets those who were sick, to [ ab ] the place they heard He was. Thought for the day: Last year I fell down and couldn't get up. My wife called 911 and firemen came and picked me up and took me to the ER where they started to diagnose my torn quad and broken knee cap. Those of us in need come to appreciate EMT's and other friends who help us. Say a prayer of thanks today for EMT's and ER workers for the great work they do. The beautiful lady to Sheila's right in the above picture is our good friend, Dr. Andrea Jones and her husband, Marc Jones. Andrea has spent many hard days and nights in an ER helping people through hard times. 5.17.14 Day 137 Favorite Verse: Mark 6. 50 for they all saw Him and were [ y ] terrified. But immediately He spoke with them and *said to them, “Take courage; it is I, do not be afraid.” Thought for the day: Jesus' most common words to those who were in some difficult situations was "Don't be afraid." Angels often say these words as well. When we are filled with the Spirit of Jesus, this is something we can honestly say to others when we sense that God will help us. "Do not be afraid." The Pilgrims who landed at Plymouth Rock had to have a heart filled with fearlessness and trust in God. Jesus Reading (Ten Minutes): Mark 6.45-52 + Rest of New Testament:1 Corinthians 9.24-27 +Psalm of the Day: Psalm 89.46-52 +Proverb of the Day: Proverbs 15.8,9 +Rest of Old Testament:2 Samuel 14,15

5.16.136 Day 136 Favorite Verse: Mark 6. 41 And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food and broke the loaves and He kept giving them to the disciples to set before them; and He divided up the two fish among them all. Thought for the day: Bless the food. Thank God for every taste of excellent food you enjoy. Gratitude sets up one's attitude. If our focus is what we don't have, we can get down in the dumps. If we are like Jesus and allow God and His people to provide good things for us, then we usually have a grateful attitude. Jesus Reading (Ten Minutes): Mark 6.33-44 + Rest of New Testament:1 Corinthians 9.19-23 +Psalm of the Day: Psalm 89.38-45 +Proverb of the Day: Proverbs 15.7 +Rest of Old Testament: 2 Samuel 12,13

5.15.14 Day 135 Favorite Verse: Mark 6. 31 And He *said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while.” (For there were many people coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.) Thought for the day: Sometimes we get fed up with good people having bad things happen to them. It drains us of energy. This is a good time to take a break and enjoy time away with good friends and family. Jesus Reading (Ten Minutes): Mark 6.14-32 + Rest of New Testament:1 Corinthians 9.1-18 +Psalm of the Day: Psalm 89.30-37 +Proverb of the Day: Proverbs 15.6 +Rest of Old Testament: 2 Samuel 10,11

5.14.14 Day 134 Favorite Verse: Mark 6. 10 And He said to them, “Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you [ i ] leave town. Thought for the day: "Be content." This was a reminder that Jesus gave His followers in many locations. Greed grows out of the seedbed of lack of contentment. Peace that passes understanding comes from trust in God.
