From the walk down the aisle to the walk into retirement.

The last few days have been filled with many memories of this moment forty seven years ago.  We were so young that I had to have my dad sign my marriage license.  We had met at ACC (Now ACU) in September of 1966 and now on September 1, 1967, we were married.  It had truly been a whirlwind romance.  I was country, Sheila was city.  I was North Texas, she was South Texas.  I like the house to be looked lived-in,  she liked it to be neat and straight.  I liked to talk alot and loud.  She liked to be reserved and speak quietly.  I enjoyed having twenty or so "close" friends.  She liked two or three.  I could go through 1hundreds of ways we were different then and today.  What was similar then and now is simply this: our values.  We both were followers of Jesus and wanted to form our marriage and family along the lines  He had in mind.  I have failed to live up to the ideal in this way many times since this night, but His grace and mercy and peace have rescued me.  I thank God for our families, and extended family and friends who have given us so much joy and support.  Thank you all for what you have done to enrich the years.
