Weeping and learning from mass shootings in Charleston.
17 things to remember on the day of sadness of the shooting
in the Charleston Church,( 6.17.15).
I live in the Fort Worth Texas area now. I spent thirty three years in Colorado in the
ministry. These dates of these shootings
are burned into my mind. Columbine.
Aurora Theater. Fort Worth church. Colorado Springs church. Charleston church. This morning my heart is filled with sadness
for this church and town as well as our great nation. I meditated today on what I need to remember
today and every day as a follower of Jesus.
1. God is love.
2. I need to be more wholehearted in my love for God and my
neighbors.
3. Churches should be a place of prayer and teaching of
God's word, but this place cannot contain God.
He is working in the comforters and helpers and justice workers.
4. The more effective the consequences of justice are
carried out the more order and healing to the community.
5. When you mess up fess up.
6. Change can come to the human heart and forgiveness can be
given and received.
7. Out of tragedy and sorrow can come opportunities for
teaching about the right ways over the wrong ways.
8. When afflictions come to your heart use them to make life
changing decisions for yourself for the long term good.
9. Only God knows the heart.
Rather than take vengeance, turn things over to God and the justice
system He has instituted.
10. Help others to know God and His compassion, mercy, grace
and love. The need is great now and at
all times.
11. Strive to bless all people regardless of their
nationality, race or ethnicity.
12. Help people who are under the stress and fog of war and
hate. Give them safe space with you.
13. All of us are sinners and need to improve our attitudes
and our actions.
14. Remember that change for the good and forgiveness will
lead to more mercy instead of more hate.
15. Remember that God's word never fails.
16. Appeal to God for hearts to turn to Him.
17. Stand up for the cause of right so that people will know
that there is a God in heaven over all.
