23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

"Dear Younger Me"
Dear younger me
Where do I start
If I could tell you everything that I have learned so far
Then you could be
One step ahead
Of all the painful memories still running thru my head
I wonder how much different things would be
Dear younger me, dear younger me

Dear younger me
I cannot decide
Do I give some speech about how to get the most out of your life
Or do I go deep
And try to change
The choices that you’ll make cuz they’re choices that made me
Even though I love this crazy life
Sometimes I wish it was a smoother ride
Dear younger me, dear younger me

If I knew then what I know now
Condemnation would’ve had no power
My joy my pain would’ve never been my worth
If I knew then what I know now
Would’ve not been hard to figure out
What I would’ve changed if I had heard

Dear younger me
It’s not your fault
You were never meant to carry this beyond the cross
Dear younger me

You are holy
You are righteous
You are one of the redeemed
Set apart a brand new heart
You are free indeed

Every mountain every valley
Thru each heartache you will see
Every moment brings you closer
To who you were meant to be
Dear younger me, dear younger me

You are holy
You are righteous
You are one of the redeemed
Set apart a brand new heart
You are free indeed [x3]

Dear younger me:

Those who don’t know the Scriptures don’t know the power of God.  It is important that you read a paragraph or a chapter a day of the life of Jesus.  Especially, notice the read letters.  My reading and meditation yesterday and today were from Mark 12 and 13.

1.       Things are temporary but the word of God is forever.  Buildings. Houses. Cars. Computers. Smart phones.

2.       There are times that seem like special transition times that are more so transition times than other times.  Especially if you feel you are in a transition time it can seem like a crisis.  Crisis is a time of danger and a time of opportunity.  Jesus said that heaven and earth pass away, but the word of God does not pass away.

3.       Young men and women who are in college or just out of college are called to honor their parents, if they are Jesus followers, but at the same time be ready to learn new things that move them forward beyond the cultural situation of their parents.

4.       Our allegiance is number one to Jesus Christ.  In times of cultural change we must be true to Him.  We should not betray Him.  We may be accused of betraying our church “roots”.  It is not abnormal for beloved family to feel betrayed by our growth and stretch.  We feel we are betraying the past as we move into the future cultural outreach situation.

5.       What we need to stand firm in is in Jesus Christ.  He is our cornerstone.  We align the house of our life by Him only.  Yes, we learn from other successful disciples, but our alignment is with Jesus.
6.       The towns where we go to school and work change as we go through education changes and work changes.  We are attached to Jesus as our constant not our specific town, state or even country.  Our citizenship is in heaven.

7.       If you have been born again as a child of God you can be sure that He has given you the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth to help you not be deceived in this phony world.  God has and will rescue His children from dangers.

Our life and our work lives are really in God’s hands.  We don’t know how long we will work somewhere or go to school somewhere, but we know that God can help us through each day wherever we are.

9What we need to do every day of our work is to be alert and prayerful.  This allows us to notice what the needs are around us.  Work leaders may not be good at telling you what they need, but if we will approach each day with an attitude toward our family as well as our co-workers, “What do you want me to do for you?”  This sets up fruitful, productive service for us regardless of our circumstances.  Our strength, health and gifts are to be used to bless others around us.

1We must be careful to not allow “sleep” to destroy our lives.  We can get so engaged in entertainment or games and be awake to late and be sleepy in the am rather than being alert to the work we need to get into.
