8.18-Our nation needs a heart transplant

8.18

Ezekiel 36:26
Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh
Friends,
This writing is deep water for me. I’m asking my partners to help me get this message out if it is something you think is needed in our country right now.

We stand ready to speak truth to power and we are ready to see repentance, forgiveness and healing to come to all of us. God promises that He will take out a heart of stone and give us a heart of flesh. On this date 13 years ago one of my beloved relatives had a liver transplant which took out a liver that didn’t work and put in one that did. He lives today because of the amazing power of a transplant. We need a spiritual transplant.

We must not be afraid to speak up in difficult times.

We must confess our own sins and ask for God to help us with His Spirit for self-examination and deeper reflection on things we have not said that we should have said.

We have been distracted from concentration on the justice, mercy and faithfulness while giving much attention to making sure our churches were properly funded by tithes and offerings. Recently our African American brothers and sisters and our Jewish friends have been targeted as the source of problems in our country. To remove or not remove a statue has become a focus of division, hate and violence. What must be removed is our sinful, calloused hearts. It is not as shallow as a change of statues, parks, parties, political leaders or justices. It is open heart surgery that is necessary. It is death to an old way and living a new way. New wine in new containers.

We must go back to the Lord’s Table together and remember. Remember Jesus on the cross saying, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” Remember to take up our own crosses and speak truth.

Our Nation needs healing. We must extend to all the grace, mercy and peace of God. Our prayers when sincerely offered are an incense that rises to the throne of God. National leaders may resist or submit, but Jesus is Lord.

We are ready to stand up for the words of Jesus and to never be ashamed of His Word. His words will cut, convict and extend cleansing and healing to us.
We have a good news message for all who are reading and willing to live a life of love. But to those who push a message of hate, violence and division we calmly stand in prayer and obedience to Jesus Christ saying, “No.”
