8.20-What do you do when you get overwhelmed?
8.20-
It was a Friday evening and there was big business in a fast food place. They are normally understaffed on Fridays as most fast food places are.
The guy ahead of me had texted his order and paid on line. He came when they said come and he could not find his order in his phone. They could not find this on their equipment. He had two sons with him and he was getting "hangry" and so were they I suspect.
The worker explained the problem and he said, "Where's the manager?"
He came and offered to replace the order and give 50% discount. They made a deal. I was ten minutes past the time I was promised food. I was relaxed because we weren't "hangry" and I called Sheila to tell her the situation. She said, "No, problem."
On this day four of their workers had quit. There was one cook where they needed three.
They replaced my order. I spoke to a young worker about me being a teacher of Christian relaxation principles prior to my retirement. The manager came by and I told him I had a friend who had worked in their national headquarters a few years back. He was helping to wait and to cook and to manage frustrated people. He was doing so in a calm and focused manner.
Another worker came and she was concerned for me and what I was going through. She offered me a free drink for the second time. I told all of them I thought they were doing good under the circumstances. I was happy they were calm in a situation that could cause workplace violence. She laughed.
I can easily get stressed in such circumstances, but the manager seemed calm and the workers seemed calm under the situation. I don't know if they manager is a Jesus follower, but he would make a good member of the team for God's work.
Philippians 4.
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is [be]near. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all [bf]comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
