8.4-Why does Jesus hate the hypocrisy of religious bigots?
8.4-
Gaslighting by religious bigots.
How many people have religious bigots made
to feel guilty about their lives in their sermons while doing the same things themselves? How many religious leaders have they
supervised and shamed because they weren’t doing their job right while they were doing deep harm themselves. God only knows. But of course the law didn’t apply to these hypocrites.
I am aware of a family that has three
generations of people who have been devastated by toxic religion. Their hearts have been hardened against true Jesus by false presentations of Jesus. I believe I know why Jesus hated this
behavior so much.
Mark 3.
22 The scribes who
came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by [k]Beelzebul,” and “He casts out the demons by
the ruler of the demons.” 23 And He called them to Himself and began speaking
to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan?
24 If a kingdom is
divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 If a house is divided
against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26 If Satan has risen up
against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but [l]he is finished! 27 But no one can enter the
strong man’s house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong
man, and then he will plunder his house.
Gaslighting is done by them against us. That is the toxic religious people will try
to say that the healthy people are the ones possessed by evil.
Gaslighting is a tactic in which a person or entity, in order to gain more power,
makes a victim question their reality. It works much better than you may think.
Anyone is susceptible to gaslighting, and it is a common technique of abusers, dictators, narcissists, and
cult leaders.
Beware of false prophets who preach but don't practice what they preach.
