3.23-Core questions and answers about life and God

3.23-

Questions and Answers from reading my Bible Today.

Why did Jesus come from heaven to earth?
Not to condemn, but to save us.

How does He save us?
When we fail and mess up, he is gentle and merciful with us and helps us to be that way toward ourselves and others. He reminds us to not pile on when others have messed up, but to find a way to stand up to protect everyone from further damage and help all toward recovery.

Where do His teachings come from?
Heaven. His Father in heaven gave them to Him.

What is sin?
Sin is anything that enslaves us.

Why do humans want to walk in darkness and lies that hide the truth?
Because we see God as a God of judgment and punishment instead of a God of love and mercy who is trying to save us. He sent His one and only Son, Jesus, into the world to save sinners. We may at times see ourselves as the worst of sinners. Even in that moment He wants us to remember that God loves us and has a plan for our recovery.

What are we to focus on and what are we to resist? Focus on love and resist hate and violence. Pursue the life and love and avoid lies and murder.

John 3.
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

John 8.
15 You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one.

1 Timothy
1.
12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. 13 Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. 14 The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.
15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. 17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
