3.27-
Pruning can lead to new growth and beauty.  Look for it.

We see it when we prune our crepe myrtle bush and our roses.  Snip.  Snip.  I wonder if this is going to work.  Will this kill this plant?

When within a few weeks there is lovely new growth.

My life is the same way.  Yesterday I wrote about our move from Denver to Fort Worth being inconvenient, but the reality is it helped us and improved our lives in certain ways.  In the last couple of years our son had to come to Denver to help us with some difficulties.  His job is here in Fort Worth.  We could do our work of ministry in Denver or Fort Worth.  People everywhere need encouragement.

Last month and this month I got to go back to Denver and spend some good times with old friends there.  We have gained a bunch of new friends here in Fort Worth and North Richland Hills.  Keeping good, Christian friends is not a zero sum matter.  The more love in friendship is a double blessing.

Sometimes God has to say "No" to something to get us to a different and better "Yes."

Acts 16.
Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia. When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to. So they passed by Mysia and went down to Troas. During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” 10 After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.

John 15.
15 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful.

When I think and pray and a "No" is there, I hope I can keep my heart, mind and soul open to the "Yes" that is on the other side of the "No".
