Travel light.  Don't carry a bunch of extra stuff.

Six years ago today my wife slept in her Denver bed for the last time before our move.  She worked all night the night of the ninth of July and on the 10th at 5pm we walked out of the house we had called home for 30 years.

We drove to Los Vegas New Mexico and crashed into the motel bed.

She had given so much of herself to get everything ready for the move.  She had to help me with a broken knee cap for six weeks after my fall on 3.22.13.  Then she had my surgery to cope with.  On top of this was the disposition of everything we didn't want to move.

Some given away to charity.
Some give to neighbors and friends.
Some sold at a garage sale.
Some became trash.

Then the remainder to be packed in boxes for the move to Texas.  Much hard work and mostly done by Sheila with a little help from our grandsons, Jared and Jordan and then on July 9 and 10th.  One long day for Sheila it all wrapped up.

Jesus reminded us to travel light.  He taught the apostles when they went out on the limited comission it is called to not carry a bunch of stuff.  We had been in the same community and church for 30 years and loved and welcomed and supported.  We had gradually added a bunch of memories and wanted to keep the memories and pictures and such.

After six years of retirement we are still sorting through these things.

10 Jesus called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.
These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (who is called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.
These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy,[a] drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.
“Do not get any gold or silver or copper to take with you in your belts— 10 no bag for the journey or extra shirt or sandals or a staff, for the worker is worth his keep. 11 Whatever town or village you enter, search there for some worthy person and stay at their house until you leave. 12 As you enter the home, give it your greeting. 13 If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let your peace return to you. 14 If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet.
