8.8--“We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves.”

I had no idea what would happen when I walked up to a guy at a fast food restaurant six years ago and held out my hand and introduced myself.  He said a group of Jesus followers met here and he was also there for the first time.

Fast forward to six years.  Today hEditere is what happened.

1.       Laughter about a network television show that some consider shallow and worldly and a couple of the guys had watched and found Jesus name and His teachings had been a part of a the program.
2.       Reminders to be patient with people going through times of weakness.

We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves.
3.       Heard these emotional words, “Good news about mom, she has cancer, but it has not spread to lymph nodes.”

4.       At what I thought was the end of the meeting a computer IT specialist said, “Let me see your phone. I’m going to fix it.”  I handed it to him and he took out a small screwdriver and took it apart and installed a cover for the power supply that had broken off a while back. “Having this open can be dangerous if it falls into water.”  Then he handed me an extra phone battery and a charger for it.  I demanded he accept pay for the parts, but the amazing thing was that he did for free as a close friend which he has become.

5.       It was not the end of the amazing things.  As I was walking out the floor was wet and that meant that my friend C. was working.  I turned to see her and asked “How’s your mom?”  She pointed toward heaven.  I moved to her and said, “Oh, no.”  “Two weeks ago.”  As I hugged her I said, “I’m sorry.”  Tears flowed down the eyes of this fifty year old Hispanic lady.  Her mom had experienced a stroke a couple of months prior and then gotten better and now this.  “God bless you, my prayers are with you.”  As I walked out the door.

These experiences in the context of having a fast food breakfast from six to seven on Thursdays for the last six years.  God provides for some of you who read this the same kind of experiences in your journey on this planet.  What a full life God gives us.
