This world includes free will choices.

“Free will, though it makes evil possible, is also the only thing that makes possible any love or goodness or joy worth having.” – C.S Lewis

The Psalmist saw this.

Psalm 119.
¹¹⁰ The wicked have laid a snare for me,
Yet I have not gone astray from Your precepts.

He calls us to the life of a soldier in the army with strong discipline flowing through our spiritual veins.  The difference in our life as a soldier is that our commander is gentle riding in on donkey of sacrifice and peace and mercy, not violence and war.
