My favorite things.  Talking to my grandkids.  Having lunch with my kids.  Watching a good movie with my wife.  Thirty minutes on my exercise bike.  Working out with stretching and sit ups and with my weights.  Walking in the water channel at the health club.  Sitting and feeding birds.  Driving through Bear Creek park and watching children fish with their parents.  Driving through Braums and getting a double dip butter pecan ice cream cone. Calls from family and friends that live in distant cities.  Zoom meetings with friends who cannot be together with us personally.  These are some of my favorite things.  Do you know what God's favorite thing is?  It is for sheep who have wandered away from the flock to be brought home safely.  This is heaven's favorite thing.

Luke 15.

15 Now all the tax collectors and the [a]sinners were coming near Him to listen to Him. 2 Both the Pharisees and the scribes began to grumble, saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.”

3 So He told them this parable, saying, 4 “What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the [b]open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? 5 When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ 7 I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.

 9.7- The long prayers about not electing anyone who doesn't support babies in the womb but unwilling to support and educate them for the next 18 years. Save your political action prayers for the meeting with your win/lose political party, whether you are democrat, republican or independependent as far as I'm concerned. Preach and sing the gospel but leave moral slobbery for some group that doesn't abuse children and cover it up and practices racism as a normal thing.  8.16- Confidence is a good thing. A well trained Olympic athlete is very confident. They train four years or longer for this moment on beam and fall down the beam or fall of the beam. They fly off and miss the uneven bars. Knowing they cannot win a medal. They have messed up and gone off the horse. What do they do? They get back on the horse. They finish their routine with a confident smile. They do not let that failure define them. Our life is not marked by a failure unless we allow it to be. The choice is ours.
