5.9-Do not be Afraid

What guides your life?  Is it fear?  Jesus taught that it is better for our lives to be powered by love than fear.  "Fear not"  in is 365 places in the Bible. One for each day.  Mature love overcomes our fear. God does not give us a spirit of fear but a spirit of power, love and self-discipline. 

There is only one fear in the heart of wise people. "The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord." Jesus teaches us that this fear is like our feelings for a loving Father. It is honor and respect feelings.

 7.22- Secrets are tiring and destructive. We go to such extents to hide our deepest issues.  It pushes us to play games and not be genuine.  King David was not a good example of how to live.  He did many things wrong, outrageous.  But he did the right thing to make it right with honesty with God and HIs fellowman.  It cost him dearly.  The consequences had to be faced, but he asked God to examine him and then wrote of the relief and joy.  5.19- Pretending. Jesus hates the behavior of pretenders, but he loves pretenders. When we pretend we are spiritually strong when in reality we are weak. When we are pretending to be healthy, we don't really open ourselves to Dr. Jesus for deep, soul level surgery. When we are the strongest is when know we are weak in ourselves and must rely on God. That's one of the reasons God doesn't like faking, pretension and hypocrisy.
