2.26-
Pray for the people of Ukraine please. They are people with great courage and hope. During my work with our church youth group we were able to present outreach programs in several youth camps in Ukraine.
I met once with the national director of the camps built by the government during times under the Soviet Union when propaganda against belief in God had been presented. This leader came to believe that behind good, honest government was an ethics backed up by character qualities taught in the Scriptures.
Though the government wanted freedom of religion at that time, they were willing for youth groups and sponsors to come from America and teach Christian ethics from the Bible. These basic ethical principles were also taught in public schools.
Thousands of students to were taught in these camps. I have heard grandparents interviewed in the last few days saying they are willing to die for the values of freedom they believe in. We are praying for the peace and freedom for Ukraine.
I believe our country has not arrived at living up to all the best ideals of our founders. As Abraham Lincoln said we need to humble ourselves and pray that we are on God's side. Thank God we have many citizens who believe we need to share our best values of respect for ourselves and all people regardless of who they are and where they live. All humans are created equal. Please pray for the peace of Ukraine.
Romans 13.
13 Every [a]person is to be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except [b]from God, and those which exist are established by God. 2 Therefore [c]whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. 3 For rulers are not a cause of fear for [d]good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; 4 for it is a servant of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a servant of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil. 5 Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for the sake of conscience. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing. 7 Pay to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; [e]respect to whom [f]respect; honor to whom honor.
