9.25-
The greatest life includes having mercy and compassion
enough to lay down one’s life for others.
Good mothers and fathers and soldiers and policemen and women and
firemen and teachers and coaches and Doctors and nurses and many others do this
as a part of their daily lives. God sets
us up in families so we will not be lonely and have the resources that we need
in times of joy and sorrow.
Psalm 68
Psalm 68[a]
For the director of music. Of David. A psalm. A
song.
1 May God arise, may his enemies be scattered;
may his foes flee before him.
2 May you blow them away like smoke—
as wax melts before the fire,
may the wicked perish before God.
3 But may the righteous be glad
and rejoice before God;
may they be happy and joyful.
4 Sing to God, sing in praise of his name,
extol him who rides on the clouds[b];
rejoice before him—his name is the Lord.
5 A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows,
is God in his holy dwelling.
6 God sets the lonely in families,[c]
he leads out the prisoners with singing;
but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land.
Micah 6.
8 He has
shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what
does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to
walk humbly[a] with
your God.
We never know when God may open a door for us to stand up
for our convictions and be willing to lose our job or even more our lives to
stand up for what we believe.
Our position in following Jesus to take our cross daily and
be willing to embrace the entire scope of life which includes suffering and our
death aligned with His cause. If we ask
Him to do so He will give us mercy and peace and keep close to us.
Wholeheartedness is the best way to live our lives.
