 1.24-

Today it is Christmas Eve, the first in 56 years that I have been without Sheila. The gift I want to give myself is to write a few words about Sheila Lynn Self Wishard. She passed on 9.4.22.
I started by reflecting on things that the friends and family and children and grandchildren said about her that I knew to be true, 24/7/365 for 56 years.
She was one who spoke the truth or nothing at all. She was an excellent editor with high standards for things being done right when it came to writing and especially writing about spiritual things. She loved to use good writing that she found to build up the down and out. I was blessed to meet a man at our church whose life was preserved by well written materials that our church sent to him during months of solitary confinement. He especially mentioned the material that Sheila had helped put together to give the prisoners joy and laughter though mail.
She could make you think deeper about what you just said with an “eye roll”. Three weeks before she passed as she was preparing for hospice she looked at me with an eye roll and said, “Larry, you will be here also someday.”
She was loyal and would not gossip behind your back.
She had the kind of love that I was dreaming of. The kind of love that has no end. I wish the world had her kind of love for her family and friends.
She was a ray of light in a dark world because of her naïve, innocence and at the same time freedom of spirit.
She established our home to be place of order, peace and calm.
She was loved and cherished by her immediate family, mother, father and brother.
She had a love that could always be counted on regardless of the situation you were in.
She had a kind of love that people never doubted she would be there for them.
She was my mentor in the practice of genuine, unconditional love.
She helped all of us all to be better people. We love our family and friends by watching how she loved hers.
She is seen in the joy in my life and an know others feel the same way.
She is gone from this earth and we miss her on this earth especially during this season since Christmas was her favorite season.
Thank you God for the life of Sheila Lynn Self Wishard, 12.24.22.
