 7.16-

On this date in 1993, early morning of July 8, 1993 my dad's heart stopped beating. He had experienced a successful hip replacement surgery and the following early morning it was over.
But it was not over. He didn't die for another 21 years. The doctors and nurses brought in heart paddles and got his heart going again. How I appreciate those next 21 years.
He was able to be there for all of us and enjoy a bunch of more great years of bringing joy and encouragement and support to mom and the kids, grandkids and friends and bought a boat load of free lunches and dinners at Dairy Queen for a lot of us.
God didn't give up. The doctors and nurses didn't give up and dad didn't give up. My sibs, 88 and 81 are still going strong. My older first cousins have not given up my younger first cousins have not given up. I admire them. I don't think if our physical heart and spiritual heart is beating that we should give up.
Let's go out and shock the spiritual heart of everyone we cross paths with today in a good upbeat way. You may have 21 years or more to work for the joy of all the people you meet.

2 Thessalonians 2

13 But we should always give thanks to God for you, brothers and sisters beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you [r]from the beginning for salvation [s]through sanctification [t]by the Spirit and faith in the truth. 14 It was for this He called you through our gospel, [u]that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold on to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter [v]from us.

16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace, 17 comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word.
