10.22- On forgiving and forgetting and remembering.

 10.22-

On forgiving and forgetting and remembering.
God's children are taught that when people sincerely turn to him that he will forgive and forget.
We were designed as humans to leave places of abuse and harm and move to places of peace and joy.
Humans after moving to safety may be asked by those who had hurt them to forgive, but they aren't expected to go back into a place of harm. They turn these over to the "justice system" and move on.
They are not holding bitterness because they have moved on. They mark them, warn others and move forward.
Ruth Graham was once asked about someone who told lies to harm her husband, Billy Graham. She said, "I specifically remember forgetting that."

Romans 12.

[m]Love must be free of hypocrisy. Detest what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; [n]give preference to one another in honor, 11 not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, 13 contributing to the needs of the [o]saints, [p]practicing hospitality.

14 Bless those who persecute [q]you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be [r]haughty in mind, but [s]associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation. 17 Never repay evil for evil to anyone. [t]Respect what is right in the sight of all people. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all people. 19 Never take your own revenge, beloved, but [u]leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written: “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 But if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
