Refreshing Our Spirits With Scripture

 10.8- When great people do things to help people that is it's purpose is to help without thoughts of impressing people with their deeds. The best prayers are when the beginning and end of the prayer are close together along with down to earth communication from the heart. Matthew 6 6  “Take care not to practice your righteousness in the sight of people, to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven. 2  “So when you  [ a ] give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, so that they will be praised by people. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.   3  But when you  [ b ] give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,   4  so that your charitable giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees  what is done  in secret will reward you.

 10.6- When there is a disaster, look for God's love in the helpers.  10.5- The secret to Contentment is in how we think. Last night a wonderful lady, was commenting on how her grandmother had been successful in her life. When she had seven children and one on the way her husband died leaving her to raise eight children. She explained that the grandmother's thinking was if she had something and you needed she would share and somehow God would provide. A very possessive "My" mindset can be very unhealthy. The fly says "My flypaper." The fly paper says "My fly," Four generations were in this room and online where we were studying and discussing how to have a loving family and church family. Contentment does not come from what I have but who I know. Contentment is not about what I own but who owns me. Communities of love solve the problem of deep need in the community by people seeing the need and meeting it even if it involves selling something and giving resources to meet the need.
