About 3,000 years ago God revealed to the family of Jesus that there was “life in the blood.”

Then about 2020 years ago Jesus started His ministry. John pointed to
Him and said, “The lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world.”
Then in the year 1955 there were about 350,000 deaths from polio. Then Dr. Salk discovered his vaccine and Dr. Sabin in 1961 brought his vaccine forth. The deaths dropped from 350,000 to 33.
This is what many of us are hoping and praying for in the case of the corona virus.
Now we are trying to mitigate this gigantic threat to our American way of life by following the suggestions of the health care leaders. Staying inside. Keeping six feet of physical distance. Washing our hands for 20 seconds, not touching our faces and wearing masks when we have to be out with people for food or medicine or other necessities.
There is a new treatment available now where a person who has survived the corona virus has antibodies and his/her blood plasma can be used to treat others who are critical.
This is somewhat like the good news of Jesus coming to this earth and overcoming the “sin-virus” by saying “No” to the devil. He was able to live for 33 years without sin and went to the cross as an innocent man and no fault could be found in him. He was on the cross during the Passover season His side was pierced and blood fell on the soil of Calvary.
Through faith, believers connect with His blood in our baptism and communion. Times at the table with our brothers and sisters and spiritually with Jesus Himself we are reminded of our forgiveness and healing and the joy of His having overcome the sin virus problem by His perfect life.
We will not forget good Friday, Passover and Easter even though we will be mostly meeting in house churches online due to the current medical crisis. We will remember that Jesus is the ultimate healer available to all who choose to believe in Him. I am thankful for Salk and Sabin. Far beyond this I am thankful for Jesus who gives us hope in this life and the next life which comes eventually regardless of any earthly solution to our current health crisis.

11 But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things [u]to come, He entered through the greater and more perfect [v]tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation; 12 and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, [w]having obtained eternal redemption. 13 For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled sanctify for the [x]cleansing of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through [y]the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse [z]your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
