Joe Wishard Tribute from His girls, Sherry, Teresa and Julie and wife, Sylvia
We lost our dad to Alzheimer's on April 18, 2013 at 67 years
of age and a long hard fought battle. He fought the good fight, finished the
race, and kept the Faith. Although, we miss our hero in overalls we know he is
Home with his Lord where his mind and body have been made new.
An avid writer, Daddy, started this poem after a doctor's
visit in 2008, but never completely finished the poem due to the progression of
Alzheimer's.
I refuse to give in to anything I can not see, pronounce,
spell, or understand.
I am leaving it up to God. He has promised "I will not
forget thee or leave me I am thy Redeemer I will care for thee."
Nothing is wrong I have given all I had. My mind is just
worn out.
My grace is sufficient I hear him say.
I am having trouble seeing it that way,
But I'm sure I will come to see
For God has always taken good care of me.
Regardless of the outcome it will be ok.
For He will walk with me all the way.
From birth thru life You have never left me alone.
I am sure You will walk with me now all the way home.
I remember the rest of the song--I Will not Forget
Thee....Or Leave Thee....I am Thy Redeemer....I will care for Thee
Proverbs 4:11-13 says: "I guide you in the way of
wisdom and lead you along straight paths. When you walk, your steps will not be
hampered; when you run, you will not stumble. Hold on to instruction, do not
let it go; guard it well, for it is your life."
Our daddy's motto was work hard and help as many people as
you can each day. He faced each day with FAITH that God was in control. He
spent his life WALKING IN THE LIGHT; therefore, we continue WALKING BY FAITH to
honor him for all he did and all he continues to mean to all of us. We ask that
you remember our Dad and ALL the families that have been or are currently being
affected by Alzheimer's. We invite you to continue this walk with us as we
fight to end Alzheimer's.
We refuse to give up!
Joe's girls (Sherry, Teresa, Julie) and wife Sylvia
