My prayer on this sad day when 49 people were killed
I remind myself on this sad day for my country when a hateful "religious" man killed 49 people.
I will ask God to help me..
to draw near to comfort and support
the lowly and broken down and mourning.
to stop being so wise in my own
estimation.
to never pay back evil for evil.
to be at peace with all men.
to never take revenge.
to be a blessing to my enemies.
to not be overcome with evil, but
will overcome evil with good.

Matthew 5.
“38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a
tooth for a tooth.’ 39 But I say to you, do not
resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the
other to him also. 40 If
anyone wants to sue you and take your [am]shirt, let him have your [an]coat also. 41 Whoever [ao]forces you to go one mile, go with him two.
42 Give to him who asks
of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may [ap]be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 If you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 Therefore [aq]you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Romans 12.
14 Bless those who persecute [m]you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who
rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be
haughty in mind, but [n]associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in
your own estimation. 17 Never
pay back evil for evil to anyone. [o]Respect what is right in the sight of all
men. 18 If
possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. 19 Never take your own
revenge, beloved, but [p]leave room for the wrath of God, for
it is written, “Vengeance
is Mine, I will repay,”
says the Lord. 20 “But if your enemy is
hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you
will heap burning coals on his head.”
21 Do not be overcome
by evil, but overcome evil with good.
