You can be at peace in the midst of storms if you know who is in control of the storms.
Since 7.13.16 Sheila and I have enjoyed some special time with my
brother in law and sister, Bill and Hazanne Luttrell. He had knee
replacement surgery about a year ago and a while back an infection got
in both knees and he had to have surgery again to get rid of the
infection and some problems with the knees. The surgery went well and
his recovery seems to be on schedule and we are very thankful for the
Doctors and nurses and all the helpers we have had. Sheila and I
decided to help them return home on the 22nd and stay with them a few
days to assist them.
We returned home yesterday having learned so much from them and their other helpers. The key thing that sticks with me this morning is this:
You can be at peace in the midst of storms if you know who is in control of the storms.
Bill is still going through a storm of recovery, but he has good helpers and he is calm and peaceful as usual. He slept good most nights we were there and his rest is a part of his healing. He has been a good friend in my life since I was about ten years old so I love being around him. God has given him grace, mercy and peace.
He has chosen a path of faith which has led to amazing self-control and focus. While raising five amazing kids he has also trained and mentored many others to live a life that is a life of both goodness and kindness yet full of fun. I remember playing football in his front yard as a college student and we used our favorite meals for our signals for hike. Down, set, bolgna, chicken, steak, hike!!!. It has been a great sixty years of experience with Bill and Hazanne and I am hoping for us all to keep praying for him and getting him back to the activity level he hopes for.
