4.19-How do we lock ourselves up in the prison of the past and bitterness?

The revolutionary power of forgiveness. Forgive and be forgiven and enjoy freedom and blessing after blessing. Life is too short to stay locked in the prison of bitterness and resentment. Let God's grace, mercy and peace flow into your heart and it will bring health to your bones.

John 17.

Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

According to Jesus to know God is to experience Eternal Life.  Randy Alcorn that For those who know Christ, this earthly life is the closest we come to hell.  For those who don’t know Christ, this earthly life is the closest they will ever come to heaven.

We need to change.  We need to become more humble and modest like children.

We need to be careful that we never cause children to sin.  We need to get rid of those things that cause us to sin.  Our rebellion not only causes problems for us, but also for our family and our community.

We need to not look down on children for they have angels watching out for them.

God is our shepherd whose joy is seeking and finding the lost sheep and carrying them home.

He seeks to be reconciled to them.  He forgives them and extends grace, mercy and peace.  Out of this heart we bring grace, mercy and forgiveness to others in our circle of life.  Forgiveness from my God and my wife and children has been the most transformation power in my life.   What flows out of the heart of God as Jesus has shown is love.  John said it this way, 1 John 4.

16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

When we get on the same page as heaven, great things happen.  Forgiving people.  How long?  How often?  We need to forgive others as long as we have been forgiven.  To not forgive others is to lock ourselves up in the past and in bitterness and resentment.

Our Father in heaven is watching our forgiveness style.  He teaches us to move to forgiveness by some hard lessons.  He wants to move us into a life of grace, mercy and peace.  We get lost away from His love. He, our great shepherd pursues us and seeks us.  Has He found you today?

Ephesians 4.

31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
