5.6-When you miss going to worship Jesus regularly with His people you lose power.
5.6-
Principle #5
We believe it is important for our
family to go to church regularly.
We delight in listening to God’s
word when the church gathers to hear it read and explained. We love the word of God and the leaders at
church who teach us the word of God by their example and their words. We love to choose friends who also love God
and His word and His people. Those who do not know the Scriptures are
missing out on the most powerful force on earth, knowing the power of God. We
are happy when our family attends church regularly and we are unhappy about
this when they don’t.
Luke 4.
14 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power
of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. 15 He was teaching in their
synagogues, and everyone praised him.16 He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, 17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:
18 “The
Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”[f]
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”[f]
20 Then
he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes
of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 He began by saying to them,
“Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
Acts 2.
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to
fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone
was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All
the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They
sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every
day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in
their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising
God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their
number daily those who were being saved.
Hebrews 10.
19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since
we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way
opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great
priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and
with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to
cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure
water. 23 Let
us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.
24 And let us consider
how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting
together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and
all the more as you see the Day approaching.26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. 28 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[d] and again, “The Lord will judge his people.”[e] 31 It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
