11.26- If you are poor and down and out during the holidays.
11.26-
In the last 48 hours I have run into
some people in my life who seemed really down and out.
My hope for today is rooted in this
reality.
There is a Christmas season and it
has begun. It begins before Thanksgiving
because we start to plan our family gatherings prior to Thanksgiving and plans
are laid out for dividing our time between family gatherings.
As for me I love this time of the
year because some of us will take more time to be thankful for the people in
our lives. Others may have a harder job
or get a part time job that they need.
Some will make gifts for people they love. Some will spend money to travel to be with
family or will take their family on a trip and make a memory.
God’s Son, Jesus was born into very
poor and humble circumstances. If you
are in that position it doesn’t mean God doesn’t love you and plan to bless
you.
Do not be afraid. God is love and is constantly sending good
news your way. Keep your eyes and ears
open. I saw a carefree blue bird this
morning and it was cool that he didn’t have to worry today and neither do I.
Keep your joy. Do not let the world of news and media and
selling soap on TV or Radio with their hate and division talk destroy your joy. The joy of the Lord is our strength.
We have a Savior and His name is
Jesus. He understands poor and powerless
people. He was once a small, baby
wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.
He can completely sympathize with your feelings of powerlessness.
God can suddenly interrupt your life
with a glorious intervention. He can and
does bring change for the better into His children’s lives. He does things that causes us to praise His
name and be thankful. Watch blue bird
moments today.
If you will work today to bring
peace among men you will please God, your creator.
Give gifts to people whom you love
that are small and thoughtful. I saw a
couple of older people encouraged this week by a rock delivered to their front
door anonymously because it had written on it “We love you. You are not forgotten.”
Luke 2.
. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and
she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a [d]manger, because there was no room for them
in the inn.
8 In the same region
there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch
over their flock by night. 9 And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before
them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly
frightened. 10 But
the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of
great joy which will be for all the people; 11 for today in the city of
David there has been born for you a Savior, who is [e]Christ the Lord. 12 This will be a sign
for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a [f]manger.” 13 And suddenly there appeared with the angel a
multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
