12.11-Big things or little things. Love things.
12.11-
1 Peter 4.
8 Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. 9 Be hospitable to one another without complaint. 10 As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
My wife and I were talking about a friend of mine who had
recently finished his work here on earth and moved to be with the Lord. She reminded me that next to the last time I saw him was
at the hospital as I was about to undergo surgery on my knee. He took time out of a very busy family life
to stop to go to be with me before the surgery and to be with my wife and son
during the surgery. It is one of the “little
things” that is actually a big thing.
I turned on ESPN online and there was a sportscaster who was dying of cancer but telling what the fight had taught him. He mentioned he fought for his daughters, but there were many who fought with him and for him when he was too tired to fight. He mentioned one of his bosses who came by his house to bring dinner for him. He was my boss, but much more. That seems like a little thing, but it is a big thing.
About this time I received a call from a friend in Fort
Worth who had missed us for a while in our community group and class at
church. He called me to check on
us. He was worried that we were ill or
something was wrong. He just wanted to
check on us. I told him that we had gotten
Thanksgiving airline tickets to visit our daughter and grandsons in Atlanta. They were a few days before and after the holiday in order to
get the tickets cheaper. He
understood. “Just wanted to make sure
y’all were okay.” "Thanks so much" Our conversation was no more than five minutes. Just a little thing. No, a big thing.
Someone drops by with food to share with you when you
are sick. They don’t ask do you need
food or want food. They just say, “Are
you home?” “Yes.” “Okay, I’ll be there in about 15 minutes and
meet you at the door to drop off something.”
That something is usually food that is delicious and nutritious. Big things or little things. Love things.
