12.15-You will be betrayed...

12.15-

It was common in my home for mom and dad to disagree about things whether it was an opinion of politics, religion or what should be the strategy for correcting a child.

As the children grew up most of us had the opinion that we wanted to move to a different location and way of life than our parents. They chose the farm life and the rural community and none of us and our spouses chose that way of life. They didn’t change their way because of it nor tried to change us from the way of life we and our spouses had chosen.

They were disciples of Jesus who had a sincere heart and a good conscience for what they were trying to do in our family.

They didn’t take our preacher or elders as their ultimate authority, but they took Jesus’ words as their ultimate authority.

Dad thought one of the hardest things to figure out was what to do in a case where a marriage had become “broken”. Dad would remain confident and unafraid if he had to speak up and say something different than the local church people were saying.

I respect him for this.

Luke 21.
14 So make up your minds not to prepare beforehand to defend yourselves; 15 for I will give you [j]utterance and wisdom which none of your opponents will be able to resist or refute. 16 But you will be betrayed even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death, 17 and you will be hated by all because of My name. 18 Yet not a hair of your head will perish. 19 By your endurance you will gain your [k]lives.
