2.13.20, Passionate Thoughts

Christians are not one issue thinkers.
We think about protecting the rights of women, children and this includes babies in the womb.
We think about what is lawful marriage in God’s world and what is not.
We think about how to be gentle and bold and forceful, humble and confident.
We think about where to stand on a variety of matters.
We are not ultimately for any person, or party or nation, but ultimately for Jesus and citizens of heaven first.

Imagine the pressure and stress going on in Germany in 1938. The leader of the nation had divided Germany into “us” versus “them” and was going to get rid to “them” the problem. The Jews.

We also think about Boenoffer’s Ordination Sermon in 1938 Germany said,
You have only one master now...But with this 'yes' to God belongs just as clear a 'no.' Your 'yes' to God requires your 'no' to all injustice, to all evil, to all lies, to all oppression and violation of the weak and poor, to all ungodliness, and to all mockery of what is holy. Your 'yes' to God requires a 'no' to everything that tries to interfere with your serving God alone, even if that is your job, your possessions, your home, or your honour in the world. Belief means decision."

We will not blindly follow leaders who do ungodly things. Period.
No to injustice,
No to all evil,
No to all lies,
No to all oppression,
No to all violation of the weak and poor,
No to all ungodliness,
No to all mockery of what is holy.
Even if that means your job,
Your possessions,
Your home,
Your honour in the world.
Or even your Life!!!
Belief means a decision.
This week around the world those who have said “Yes” to Jesus have lost their jobs, their homes and some even their lives.
If we take Jesus seriously we should not be surprised, but be hopeful and expectant that God will be in charge and we can trust Him.

Mark 13.
“But [e]be on your guard; for they will deliver you to the [f]courts, and you will be flogged in the synagogues, and you will stand before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them. 10 The gospel must first be preached to all the nations. 11 When they [g]arrest you and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but it is the Holy Spirit. 12 Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and [h]have them put to death. 13 You will be hated by all because of My name, but the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.
