A covenant is a sacred document.  It makes certain promises. A marriage covenant.  A neighborhood covenant.  These make binding promises.

For children of God there is covenant that God made which provides for all of us to have our own high priest.  A bridge from our human and messy lives into heaven's perfection to the throne room of our Holy God.

God has sent a Savior to put his law of love and liberty into our hearts and minds.

These children will all know God.  They will grow in their knowledge of Him but all will know Him because is the beginning of the relationship with Him.   They know God and God knows them.  This knowledge can be in the heart of a child or a child at heart who is 90.

He promises to merciful to their wrongdoings.

He promises that he will no longer remember their sins.

This is the kind of relationship that is available to everyone who turns to God is humility and truth and trusts the Father in heaven.

Hebrews 8

7 For if that first covenant had been free of fault, no [g]circumstances would have been sought for a second. 8 For in finding fault with [h]the people, He says,

“Behold, days are coming, says the Lord,
[i]When I will bring about a new covenant
With the house of Israel and the house of Judah,
9 Not like the covenant which I made with their fathers
On the day I took them by the hand
To bring them out of the land of Egypt;
For they did not continue in My covenant,
And I did not care about them, says the Lord.
10 For this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel
After those days, declares the Lord:
[j]I will put My laws into their minds,
And write them on their hearts.
And I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.
11 And they will not teach, each one his fellow citizen,
And each one his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’
For they will all know Me,
From [k]the least to the greatest of them.
12 For I will be merciful toward their wrongdoings,
And their sins I will no longer remember.”

13 [l]When He said, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. But whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old is [m]about to disappear.
