Logical family versus biological family.

There are families that give their members freedom to learn and grow at their own rate and path without pressure, shame and guilt manipulation.

A few allow kids to bounce back home for re-aligning of their vocational goals without making them feel like less than. I have heard of some who work with their mom or dad as a craftsman until age thirty or so without destroying their self confidence.

Those who believe in our best and wildest dreams are close friends not normally biological family. There are exceptions when biological family are also our logical family, our closest friends, but that is not the norm.

The chosen "logical" family are people who believe the best about us even when they see us fall short. These are the best marriages in my experience. They find something wonderful and want to live it and share it according to the hunger in the heart of a learner.

Friends who become family do not steal joy but accelerate joy. Tears are okay and so is a kick in the rear. Whatever the need of the moment, but no piling on in broken moments.

Logically we run with those who use words to build us up and show us how to use a crescent wrench or a screwdriver or bar bell or hammer to fix things or build things.or a hunting rifle or a fly fishing pole to play and enjoy nature.

They share a ticket to the front row and allow us to talk or say nothing. They fix us whatever breakfast we want.

They let us work early or late without judgement of what is the proper get up and go to bed time. They may get up at 4am and work 24 hours with us or leave us to work alone. They do not enable. They able.

My biological family happened to also be my logical family. They are accused of being free range parents allowing kids to drive tractors and trucks way too early.

That doesn't mean our family was anything other than broken people helping each other through life.

When I write the history of my family and friends I'm looking for veins of gold in the dirt of our normal life and the need for grace and space on a daily basis.

Ephesians 4

17 So I say this, and affirm in the Lord, that you are to no longer walk just as the [n]Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their minds, 18 being darkened in their understanding, [o]excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart; 19 and they, having become callous, have given themselves up to indecent behavior [p]for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness. 20 But you did not learn Christ in this way, 21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus, 22 that, in reference to your former way of life, you are to rid yourselves of the old [q]self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, 23 and that you are to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to put on the new [r]self, which [s]in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

25 Therefore, ridding yourselves of falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, because we are parts of one another. 26 Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and do not give the devil [t]an opportunity. 28 The one who steals must no longer steal; but rather he must labor, producing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with the one who has need. 29 Let no [u]unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but if there is any good word for edification [v]according to the need of the moment, say that, so that it will give grace to those who hear. 30 Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, [w]by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 All bitterness, wrath, anger, [x]clamor, and slander must be removed from you, along with all malice. 32 Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven [y]you.
