Could you forgive someone who took the life of your child?
Christmas is about God’s sending His Son to be born in Bethlehem and laid in a manger. The Word of God became flesh. He lived here and was tempted in all points like we are. When we need a word of grace and truth,
He is available to us spiritually. He understands. He is the source of forgiveness, grace mercy and peace. He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. He helps us to face the truth. His mercy gives us the charge for a fresh start with a new identity in our relationship with God. Our relationship with humans is different.
Yesterday, I heard the story of a woman who lost her son to the wrongful death at the hands of a policeman who shot him as he was running away. He was sentenced to twenty years in prison. The mother said she forgave him. God forgives. Men and women may or may not be able to forgive.
Regardless of the forgiveness, the policeman must do twenty years in prison and forever live with himself for this death. Hopefully, God’s mercy and the forgiveness of others may be able to give him a new life from now on. Merry Christmas is possible because of the lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world.
John 1.
14 And the Word became flesh, and [k]dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of [l]the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 John *testified about Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me [m]has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.’” 16 For of His fullness [n]we have all received, and [o]grace upon grace. 17 For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth [p]were realized through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.
