2.19-What should we do when people lie about us?
2.19-
The truth is the truth.
A lie is a lie.
The devil and his children accuse others of that which they do.
This was a basic tactic of
Satan. Satan is a liar. God tells the truth and He is the truth. So when Satan wanted to tempt Adam and Eve
and destroy their life he accused of God of that which he did.
Genesis 3.
3 Now the serpent
was more crafty than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘You
shall not eat from [a]any tree of the garden’?” 2 The woman said to the serpent,
“From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; 3 but from the fruit of the tree
which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it
or touch it, or you will die.’” 4 The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not
die! 5 For
God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you
will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
John 8.
44 You are of your father the
devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from
the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in
him. Whenever he speaks [n]a lie, he speaks from his own nature,
for he is a liar and the father of [o]lies. 45 But because I speak the truth, you do not
believe Me.
It is common for political fools to lie
and their rationale is because others are lying about them. When others lie about us it is tempting to retaliate by lying about them. We who follow Jesus must not do this.
This is not God’s way.
Truth is absolutely necessary for a person
or a group to survive.
