 8..14-

You never know until you ask.
Most of us are reticent about asking for things when we assume we will be turned down. I can think of these examples that I was sure the answer would be “No.” and the answer was not “No.” At times it was “Let me/us think about it.” Even a surprising, “Yes.” Sheila to date me. Sheila to support the idea of me being a minister instead of a teacher/coach. My church leaders about having a daily television show with a daily positive thought to begin the broadcast day on NBC, DFW. My son in junior high at the time about moving away from Texas, his very favorite state to Colorado to help strengthen a recent “church plant.”
Jesus was very different from the religious leaders of his day. He was about God, His Father, they were about money and power. He was about helping others seven days a week. They were not.He had compassion. They did not.
Once there were some blind guys crying out to Jesus for mercy. Their friends warned them to be quiet. Jesus said, “What do you want me to do for you?”
“We want our eyes to be open.” Moved with compassion Jesus touched their eyes and immediately they regained their sight.
If you believe in Jesus and His prayer “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be you name, give us….. and forgive us…and lead us….. and deliver us…” Then ask for what you want. He knows you are thinking and wanting this.
Our assumptions to not ask for things are at the edge of our imagination are the wrong assumptions. To some of us we fail because we pray small prayers to a small god. We need to ask big prayers of a big God and a good God. He will give us much of what we want and all of what we need.
This picture excites my heart today because it shows some happy Texans. My mother and father had never flown in a plane in their entire life. About 75 years old they were hosting me when I had flown down from Denver to speak at my nephew, Alan Wishard’s, Baccularate. I was preparing to return home and I asked mom and dad if they wanted to fly back to Denver with me and stay a week. I assumed I knew the answer. “No, of course not.”
“Yes, we will.” You could have knocked me over with a feather.
They did. We went to the mountains of course and Estes Park where there was this café, “The Happy Texan.” The perfect picture for me of Mom, Dad, Sheila and Amy . All happy people in my life who lift my spirit into happiness every day of my life.
May be an image of 4 people and text that says 'CAFE HAPPY TEXANS'
