Funerals. Burial practices.
This week I was reading an account of the burial of a man who was named Jacob who gave some specific instructions about his burial. Respect for the body of human beings and remembering their life in a good way is a very important part of life.
One of my good friends in Oklahoma recently moved into a new neighborhood for him and he was needed to help with the funeral of the lady who lived next door. He was willing to do what he could to comfort and help the family remember their mother.
Times of death are times we can support and comfort people in a way that they may not be open to need and receive comfort at other times. All of a sudden there a chance for a bridge of friendship to be built that is important.

When we go to funeral of someone whom we don't know well we discover what a positive impact they had on the community that we had not been aware of. Let us not overlook the importance of taking advantage of each opportunity to serve each other.

Genesis 50

22 Now Joseph stayed in Egypt, he and his father’s household, and Joseph lived 110 years. 23 Joseph saw the third generation of Ephraim’s sons; also the sons of Machir, the son of Manasseh, were born on Joseph’s knees. 24 Joseph said to his brothers, “I am about to die, but God will assuredly [p]take care of you and bring you up from this land to the land which He [q]promised on oath to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.” 25 Then Joseph made the sons of Israel swear, saying, “God will assuredly [r]take care of you, and you shall carry my bones up from here.” 26 So Joseph died at the age of 110 years; and they embalmed him and placed him in a coffin in Egypt.
