11,30.19-Thankful for America
11.30.19
During this Thanksgiving season and I am Thankful for my
country, The United States of America.
Abraham Lincoln declaration regarding Thanksgiving
It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be
solemnly, reverently, and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and one
voice by the whole American people. I do, therefore, invite my fellow-citizens
in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who
are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of
November next as a Day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who
dwelleth in the heavens. And I recommend to them that, while offering up the
ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings,
they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and
disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows,
orphans, mourners, or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are
unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty
hand to heal the wounds of the nation, and to restore it, as soon as may be
consistent with the Divine purposes, to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony,
tranquility, and union.
More recently three famous citizens whose family moved them
to America or they chose to come here said some things about America that are
great.
Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman
At the beginning of his testimony, Vindman detailed his life
as an immigrant, describing how his family fled the Soviet Union when he was 3
years old and landed in new York City. His father worked multiple jobs, while
learning English at night, Vindman said, and “he stressed to us the importance
of fully integrating into our adopted country.”
“For many years, life was difficult. In spite of our
challenging beginnings, my family worked to build its own American Dream. I
have a deep appreciated for American value and ideals and the power of freedom.
I am a patriot.”
·
Vindman applauded his father for deciding to flee the Soviet Union and
bring the family to the US in the 1970s.
·
"Dad, I'm sitting here today in the US Capitol talking to our
elected professionals is proof that you made the right decision 40 years ago to
leave the Soviet Union," he said.
· Vindman added:
"Do not worry. I will be fine for telling the truth."
Marie Yovanovitch testified to Congress “My parents fled
Communist and Nazi regimes. Having seen, firsthand, the war and poverty and
displacement common to totalitarian regimes, they valued the freedom and
democracy the U.S. offers and that the United States represents. And they
raised me to cherish those values.”[5
Fiona Hill
“I can say with confidence that this country has offered for
me opportunities I would never have had in England,”
Thank you God for all countries that allow freedom for the
good news of Jesus to be preached, but especially thank you for America, my country.

Romans 13.
13 Every [a]person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except [b]from God, and those which exist are established by God. 2 Therefore [c]whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. 3 For rulers are not a cause of fear for [d]good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; 4 for
it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be
afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a
minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil. 5 Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience’ sake. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing. 7 Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.
