Prayer and Reflection Approaching the Election

Friends,
I want to thank you for being an encourager of my walk with Jesus. One of my hobbies is creating outlines that fit with the times. Here is one I made for myself and shared with a couple of friends and they encouraged me to share this with others.


Here is the outline and please pray that I can share this with people who could use it during this election year.

I strongly believe that the evil one is always tempting the disciples to get off track of our work which is not making Republicans or Democrats or Americans, but making disciples of Jesus. He is especially active in this temptation in elections years. We must be on the alert.

So I am sharing this basic outline for study and prayer during the next twenty one weeks. If any person or family or church would pray and study and meditate on these chapters during this time we could have a spiritual renewal for our hearts regardless of the outcome of the election.

I am hoping to get as many people and men's groups, and classes and churches as possible to pray and study in this direction.

For any leaders or teachers who want additional outlines and discussion questions I will provide them through my email or website.

21 Week Prayer and study guide the Elections in the USA

1. June 12-18
Matthew 2, Jesus came into a world of power and violence and murder.
John 1, 2, 3, God loves the world enough to send His Son.

2. June 19-25
Matthew 4, Luke 4, The temptations are real and so is God's help for us.

3. June 26-July 2
Matthew 5, Luke 6, God knows we have opponents and tells us how to respond.

4. July 3- July 9
Matthew 8, 15, 25,Luke 4, John 6, God has compassion for the poor and hungry and oppressed.

5. July 10-July 16
Matthew 14, 19, Mark 6, 10, Morals, Marriage, Male and Female and the Single Life

6. July 17-July 23
Matthew 17, 22, Mark 12, Luke 20, Taxes

7. July 24-July 30
Mattthew 5, Luke 7, 18, Mark 9, Attitudes of mercy and grace toward all people.

8. July 31-August 6
Mattthew 20, 25, God wants work for all and trust in Him for great and multiplied fruit.

9. August 7-August 13
Matthew 23, Mark 11, Luke 18, John 3, The danger of mixing religion and politics.

10. August 14-August 20
Matthew 24, Luke 21, Revelations 18-22, Leaders come and go. Parties and sects come and go and even Nations come and go.

11. August 21-August 27
Luke 3, Matthew 27, Acts 10, Soldiers are loved and taught by God's servants

12. August 28-September 3
Mark 2, Luke 15, 19, Tax Collectors loved and called.

13. September 4-September 10
Luke 10, Loving God and loving our neighbor looks like this

14. September 11-September 17
Luke 12, The danger of the love of money to corrupt the heart and soul.

15. September 18- September 24
John 4, The importance of having an open, unprejudiced heart.

16. September 25-October 1
John 10, Jesus kind of leadership, a good shepherd.

17. October 2-October 8
John 13, Deep love and service over force and violence and power.

18. October 9-October 15
Luke 9, 14, Our life is one of being willing to love so completely that we put Jesus before all things. By putting Him first we learn how to love our family and our nation.

19. October 16-October 22
John 12, Our life is dying to ourselves and living for others.

20. October 23-October 29
Matthew 28, Luke 24, The gospel of grace and forgiveness goes out to all nations. Making disciples is our work.

21. October 30-November 5
John 14-17, Revelation 21, 22 Only the kingdom of heaven lasts forever. He guides us through suffering, persecution and hate through His Spirit to a forever life.

9.4- Broken eggs. I had been warned Don't try to carry too much in from the grocery store at once. Learn the hard way or the easy way. Why does the only thing that falls off is the most fragile?  9.2- There was this grasshopper who appeared to be very old and very wounded. He drug himself along. Where he was amazed me. On the ground level at the gas station near Gordon Texas was dirt and oil and the danger of feet and tires. As I pumped 39.30 worth of fuel I wondered how did he get out of the dirt and danger to the safety of the top of the gas pump? As I get older I sometimes feel I am dragging along like a grasshopper. My spirit is fueled by seeing how my life includes my maker providing safety for me by the help of family, friends and strangers. Two such are my nephew, Lynn And Sheri Luttrell. He is a prof. at ACU and she the owner and leader of stepping Stones school. Got to spent two days of fun, 42 and homemade ice cream last week. A space craft from India landed there yesterday near the south pole of the moon where they think there may be water. Once the greatest human who ever lived faced his hardest days. He spoke words of steady trust and submission to his loving heavenly Father, maker of heaven and earth. "If possible may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."
