8.21.17-The Eclipse Teaches us about God's Order and Power
8.21.17
Humans are created in the image of
God. They are unique among all animals. There are people who don't believe in
God and claim that all around us is a result of random cosmic accidents.
I approach the eclipse today with
the awareness that the moon is 400 times smaller than the sun but it can
completely block out the sun because it is about 400 times nearer the earth.
That is not a co-incidence it is a "God-incidence".
In North Richland Hills it starts
today at 12.45pm and ends at 1.15pm reaching its fullest coverage at 1.09pm.
Psalm 19[a]
For the director of music. A psalm of David.
1 The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
3 They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
4 Yet their voice[b] goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
5 It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
6 It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is deprived of its warmth.
