 5.2-

I love the effects of all good schools, Home. Private and Public.
Through the years I have been blessed to know some amazing school teachers, coaches and administrators that work in the public schools. The good ones are teaching students before they are teaching subjects. The past two weeks I had contact with people from five school districts and the problems are all the same. Without the involvement of good school workers our society simply will not be glued together as it should.
Last week I spoke with an administrator who had gone to a home with children who were dealing with lice. He went there because he cares asbout children. Then he helps a staff member get into rehab then he goes and buys some food for a child who is nearly homeless. Where do we get these heroes.?
Some religious folks want to deal only with middle class, insured, hermetically sealed "normal" families where there appears to be no "mess".
Jesus was a teacher who came for the poor, the blind, the paralazed, the deaf and mute. He had the power to heal them immediately.
When a coach or an special ed teacher or a maintence worker treats a childre with respect and dignity there is the begining of a healing process. When a public school worker treats all the kids with hope for their potential regardless of their socio economic status there is the begining of feeling being seen and cared for.
When public schools make sure they do all they can to make sure no child misses a meal over the weekend when the parents may or not be around, then that school workers is being a part of a human transformation from feeling empty to feeling the value of themselves and other human beings.
Thank you God for public school workers who often must overcome pain in refusing to give up on anyone. My hat is off to all of you this day.

Matthew 18

18 At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”

He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.

Causing to Stumble

“If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come! If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.
